Final Update
A properly called meeting of the entire membership was held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, to consider amendments to the club's governing documents. The Evite to the meeting included notice that the recent meetings of the Board of Directors have included discussions about disbanding the club.
Although there is no minimum attendance required to conduct business at a meeting of the membership, 67% of the current voting membership were present and voting.
Before considering the proposed amendments to the governing documents, a discussion was held on options to revitalize the club membership. Following this discussion a motion was made to disband the club. This motion was passed by unanimous ballot.
Previously announced activities thru the end of the year will still be held but no new activities will be scheduled.
Maybe sometime in the future a group will decide to form a new Girth & Mirth type club. Nothing we are doing in shutting down the existing club should even prohibit using the name Girth & Mirth in the future if the new group wishes to use it.
